La Sabina starts from the suburbs of Rome and extends from the left bank of the Tiber River till the Sabine Mountains. The typical landscape is dotted with hills covered with olive groves, lush green valleys and mountains with extensive forests of oak and beech trees. Almost all the hills are dominated by medieval villages, castles and ancient monasteries. Wherever you are you have the feeling that time passes slower, closer to the rhythms of nature and its seasonal cycles. The hilly topography of the area makes it impractical for intensive agriculture, encouraging the production of olive oil, which is of well known excellent quality. Close to CalaSabina we have many great family run restaurants, numerous supermarkets, food and fruit shops. Chemists, Post offices, Banks, Churches, and Hairdressers are in the surrounding villages and towns. Fashion shopping can be done in the Porta di Roma Shopping Mall.
